Resumo: This study examines the fundamental role of free play in childhood, considering its contemporary challenges in the face of technological advances and cultural changes. It highlights how traditional games, toys and games are being impacted by the reduction of safe public spaces for children's activities and the rise of Digital Information and Communication Technologies (DIT). Thus, the participatory action research presented aims to promote free play, especially in public spaces, with a view to raising awareness among those involved about the importance and potential of traditional games for children's protagonism and human development. By emphasizing free play as a child's right, essential for their physical, mental, cognitive and emotional development, it also highlights how traditional games can promote socio-environmental and civic education, and combat consumerism from childhood. In the context of technological processes, research highlights their creative and transformative nature, not limited to material instruments, adapting them to different social and human contexts. The study also addresses the communicative nature of DICT, highlighting the importance of dialogue between enunciative subjects and the multiplicity of meanings in the communicative process.

- dez.; 111-121arq.urb; n. 38 (2023): set. - dez.; 111-1211984-5766reponame:arq.urbinstname:Universidade São Judas Tadeuinstacron:USJTporhttps://revistaarqurb.com.br/arqurb/article/view/698/558Copyright (c) 2023 Valnice de Sousa Paiva, Arnaud Soares de Lima Juniorhttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessPaiva, Valnice de SousaJunior, Arnaud Soares de Lima2024-07-17T12:36:48Zoai:ojs.emnuvens.com.br:article/698Revistahttps://revistaarqurb.com.br/arqurbPRIhttps://revistaarqurb.com.br/arqurb/oairevista.arq.urb@saojudas.br||1984-57661984-5766opendoar:2024-07-17T12:36:48arq.urb - Universidade São Judas Tadeufalse
