Characteristic activities of the tourism chain: a systematic literature review

Resumo: Tourism has been consolidating itself as one of the most important sectors of the world economy due to its great economic and job creation potential. Given that, analyzing the activities that are part of the tourism chain is essential due to their impact in the development of a region. This work aims to identify the activities of the tourism chain mentioned by the papers related to the theme in recent years. With an exploratory character, the methodology used was the systematic review of the literature, carried out in the databases Plataforma de Periódicos Capes and Spell, selecting the works in the period between September 1, 2015, and September 1, 2020. The research found 72 papers which, after the inclusion and exclusion criteria, resulted in 33 valid papers. We observe that most studies cite the means of accommodation as an activity that makes up the tourism chain, followed, in order of importance, by food and beverage services, travel agencies and tour operators, transportation, and tourist attractions. Many articles do not mention any activity, leaving a gap in the studies on this topic. We conclude that there is no consensus among the authors on the composition of the tourism chain.

Ante esto, analizar las actividades que forman la cadena turística es relevante por su papel en el desarrollo de una región. El presente trabajo tiene por objetivo identificar las actividades de la cadena turística mencionadas por los artículos relacionados con el tema en los últimos años. Con carácter exploratorio, la metodología utilizada fue la revisión sistemática de la literatura, realizada en las bases de datos Plataforma de Periódicos Capes y Spell, seleccionando los trabajos en el periodo entre el 1 de septiembre de 2015 y el 1 de septiembre de 2020. La búsqueda resultó en 72 artículos que, después de los criterios de inclusión y exclusión, se redujeron para 33 artículos válidos. Se observó que la mayoría de los estudios citan los medios de alojamiento como una actividad que integra la cadena turística, seguido, por orden de importancia, de los servicios de alimentos y bebidas, agencias de viajes/operadores turísticos, transporte y atractivos turísticos. Muchos artículos no mencionan ninguna actividad, dejando un vacío en los estudios sobre este tema. Se concluye que no existe consenso entre los autores sobre la composición de la cadena turística.O turismo vem se consolidando como um dos setores mais importantes da economia mundial devido ao seu grande potencial econômico e de geração de empregos. Diante disso, torna-se fundamental analisar as atividades que fazem parte da cadeia do turismo, dado o impacto delas no desenvolvimento de uma região. Este trabalho tem o objetivo de identificar as atividades da cadeia do turismo citadas pelos artigos relacionados ao tema nos últimos anos. Com caráter exploratório, a metodologia utilizada foi a revisão sistemática da literatura, realizada nas bases de dados da Plataforma de Periódicos Capes e Spell, selecionando os trabalhos no período entre 01 de setembro de 2015 e 01 de setembro de 2020. A pesquisa realizada originou 72 artigos que, após os critérios de inclusão e exclusão, resultou em 33 artigos válidos. Observou-se que a maioria dos textos citam os meios de hospedagem como atividade que compõe a cadeia do turismo, seguida, em ordem de importância, dos serviços de alimentos e bebidas; agências de viagens e operadoras de turismo; transporte; e atrativos turísticos. Muitos artigos não mencionam nenhuma atividade, deixando uma lacuna nos estudos desta temática. Conclui-se que não há um consenso entre os autores sobre a composição da cadeia do turismo.Universidade de São Paulo.
