Resumo: | In March 31, 1997, Jornal Nacional (Rede Globo) broadcast a series of news about violent practices of military police against residents of Favela Naval, in Diadema, São Paulo. Having great repercussion, the scandal unleashed direct political and institutional consequences. We argue here that one of the factors that intensified the incident was the way it gained visibility: through amateur filming. We also try to articulate, on the one hand, the aesthetic, narrative and discursive specificities of the reports produced from the amateur video, and, on the other hand, the social, political and institutional context in which the Favela Naval incident unfolds. |

Argumentamos aqui que um dos amplificadores do impacto foi o modo como a denúncia ganhou visibilidade: por meio de uma filmagem amadora.
