Resumo: The aim of this paper is to criticize the proposition according to which the requirements ofskill for labor in modern production systems, with electronic-based automation, imply the negation of the Marxist assumption of deskilling of work along the technological development. In the search of the specificity of Marx's ideas about the matter, and in bringing those ideas to the present time, one comes to the notion that the modern factory is really a reflex of the deskilling of direct labor, under Marx's concept. The most usual conception of deskilling (wrongly attributed to Marx) is really ofsmithian nature; with this in mind, it is made a critical analysis of Labor and Monopoly Capital, of Braverman, which became the utmost interpretation of Marx's ideas about the theme.

Ao buscar a especificidade do pensamento de Marx sobre a questão, e ao trazer esse pensamento para a atualidade, chega-se a noção de que a fábrica moderna e, na verdade, reflexo da desqualificação do trabalho direto sob o conceito de Marx. A concepção mais usual de desqualificação (atribuida erroneamente a Marx) e, na realidade, de cárater smithiano; sob esse prisma, e feita uma análise crítica de Trabalho e Capital Monopolista, de Braverman, que passou a ser visto como a interpretação por excelência das ideias de Marx sobre o tema.Universidade de São Paulo.
