Resumo: | This bibliographic research reflects on how content broadcasted by digital platforms can impact the relations that structure information-habit-action based on Peirce’s semiotics. Our central hypothesis states that Peircean semiotics can provide elements to help understand the informational processes that direct the habit development. In times of Big Data, Information Society, digital media, fake news, it is imperative to comprehend the dynamics involving information and its relationship with human conduct. Peirce’s characterization of information as a process brings elements that help understand the relations between information and action. According to Pierce, as a sign and its correlates adequately convey the form of the object to an interpretant, the information therein directs human conduct. As the use and dissemination of digital platforms become essential in industrialized societies, the concept of information changes and consequently influences individual and collective conduct. To unveil this relationship, we distinguish between habits of action and habits of conduct, proposing that understanding the relations between information, habits and action can point out the impact of information technologies in individual and collective conduct. |
