Leadership in the nursing context

Resumo: Leadership is one of the most indispensable tools for nursing work. This study is aimed at making a bibliographical survey about leadership in the nursing context and characterizing the scientific production on the topic based on year and place of publication and theme categorization. An online literature review, carried out using LILACS data, considered periodical material, dissertations and theses available in Portuguese and Spanish from the past twenty years. From the 31 selected works, 17 (54.8%) have been published in international nursing magazines, 10 (32.2%) have been published in Brazilian nursing periodicals, 3 (9.8%) were Master's Degree theses, and one (3.2%) was a teaching thesis, with publication concentrated between 1997 and 1998 (22.6%). When categorizing the references, the numbers were: 14 (45.2%) dealt with nurse leadership styles, 15 (48.5%) were reflections upon leadership, and 2 (6.4%) discussed leader-ship and communication.

Este estudio tuvo como objetivos hacer un levantamiento bibliográfico sobre liderazgo en el contexto de la enfermería y caracterizar tal producción científica encontrada, con base en las variables: año, lugar de publicación y categorización de los temas. Se trató de una revisión de literatura realizada on-line en la base de datos LILACS, considerando periódicos, tesis de maestría y de doctorado disponibles en lengua portuguesa y española, en los últimos veinte años. De los 31 trabajos seleccionados, 17 (54,8%) fueron publicados en revista de enfermería internacional y en periódicos de enfermería nacional 10 artículos (32,2%), 3 tesis de maestría (9,8%) y 1 tesis de libre docencia (3,2%), con mayor predominio de divulgación entre 1997 y 1998 (22,6%). Al categorizar las referencias se tuvo: 14 trabajos (45,2%) sobre estilo de liderazgo ejercido por los enfermeros, 15 (48,4%) reflexiones sobre liderazgo y 2 publicaciones (6,4%) que discurrieron respecto a liderazgo y comunicación.A liderança é uma das ferramentas imprescindível no processo de trabalho do enfermeiro. Este estudo teve como objetivos fazer um levantamento bibliográfico sobre liderança no contexto da enfermagem e caracterizar tal produção científica encontrada, com base nas variáveis: ano, local de publicação e categorização dos temas. Tratou-se de uma revisão de literatura realizada on-line na base de dados LILACS, considerando periódicos, dissertações e teses disponíveis em língua portuguesa e espanhola, nos últimos vinte anos. Dos 31 trabalhos selecionados, 17 (54,8%) em revista de enfermagem internacional, 10 artigos (32,2%) foram publicados em periódicos de enfermagem nacional, 3 dissertações de mestrado (9,8%) e 1 tese de livre-docência (3,2%), com maior predomínio de divulgação entre 1997 e 1998 (22,6%). Ao categorizar as referências teve-se: 14 trabalhos (45,2%) sobre estilo de liderança exercido pelos enfermeiros, 15 (48,4%) reflexões sobre liderança e 2 publicações (6,4%) discorrendo a respeito de liderança e comunicação.Universidade de São Paulo.
