Resumo: In a tropical country of continental dimensions, this article is a reflection on the transformations of Brazilian society in time and space, as it relates to its territory and environmental heritage. Specific aspects of each subject will be addressed in order to understand the persue of citizenship, the endeavour for articulating and integrating the territory and the evolution towards sustainable development
