Resumo: Em A outra margem, Luís Filipe Rocha conta a aventura humana de seres que a sociedade remeteu para as margens, por os considerar como aberrações, deficientes ou em falta. Ricardo, travesti homossexual, Vasco, seu sobrinho que sofre de trissomia 21, Maria, mãe solteira, e o transsexual Luís/Carla representam um desvio em relação à norma (o modelo heteronormativo, a lógica produtivista, a moral tradicional). Se o rio, imagem central no filme, separa, é também à beira dele que ocorrem muitos reencontros. Os próprios “marginais” aprenderão a conhecer-se mutuamente e a aceitar a alteridade do outro. Uma das pontes que os aproximará é a arte, crucial na (re)construção das respetivas identidades.

Ricardo, a homosexual transvestite, Vasco, his nephew who suffers from trisomy 21, Maria, single mother, and the transsexual Luís/Carla, represent a deviation from the norm (the heteronormative model, the productivist logic, the traditional morality). If the river separate, it is also on its banks that many encounters occur. "Marginalized" learn to know each other and to accept the otherness.
