Resumo: The present article analyzes the initiatives of coercion to conversion of the devadasis - of the concani Servas de Deus - in the context of the Portuguese colonization in Goa between 1567-1606. The devadasis appeared in specific topics in the official documents that sought to impose conducts, behaviors and disciplinations to the local populations of Goa. Considered public women and associated with lasciviousness, the devadasis were targets of the initiatives of imposition of the Portuguese customs and the Christian faith by the ecclesiastical and regal authorities.
