Occupational Therapist training with an emphasis on basic care: the view of teachers

Resumo: | This study describes potential impacts on trainingoccupational therapists from their insertion and practice in thecontext of the SUS, from the perspective of the teacher. These impacts are described in the context of Occupational Therapy professors in Higher Education Institutions (IES) in the states of Minas Gerais and São Paulo who taught practical subjects. Six interviews were conducted with six teachers, from june to december of 2011, whose results were treated by means of content analysis, a qualitative perspective. The results reveal changes in the occupational therapy curriculum toward greater student engagement in practice since the earliest semesters of the course, focusing on primary care and the public health system and also teacher’s appreciation, attested by the positive impact on student training. Great value is given to comprehensiveness of care, but interviews reveal aspects of training that still require investment. Participation in multi / interprofessional teams hasfavored the development of a critical perspective and professional integration. |

Participation in multi / interprofessional teams hasfavored the development of a critical perspective and professional integration.O estudo descreve possíveis impactos na formação do graduando em Terapia Ocupacional (T.O) a partir de sua inserção no contexto do Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS), na perspectiva de docentes de cursos de T.O de Instituições de Ensino Superior (IES) dos Estados de Minas Gerais e São Paulo que lecionavam disciplinas do eixo prático. Foram realizadas seis entrevistas com os docentes, de junho a dezembro de 2011, cujos resultados foram tratados por meio da análise de conteúdo, numa perspectiva qualitativa. Os resultados revelam esforço dos docentes para inserção do estudante na prática na rede SUS desde os primeiros períodos do curso, o foco na atenção básica é uma postura recente em algumas IES e está em construção. Detectou- se valorização por parte dos docentes, da inserção prática precoce do discente, atestada pelo impacto positivo na formação do estudante. Há valorização da integralidade no cuidado, porém as entrevistas revelam aspectos da formação que necessitam de investimento neste campo. A participação do aluno em equipes multi/interprofi ssionais tem favorecido o desenvolvimento de uma perspectiva crítica e de integração profi ssional. Universidade de São Paulo.
