Resumo: In 2006, the Brazilian law on food and nutritional security was promulgated - Law n. 11.346 / 20061. Without doubt, it was a milestone and a great achievement in the recognition and defense of the right to food in Brazil. And the first national legislation that states food as a right. More than a point of arrival is an initial ground for future democratic conquests and discussions.

Sem dúvidas, foi um marco e uma grande conquista no reconhecimento e na defesa do direito à alimentação no Brasil. É a primeira legislação pátria que enuncia a alimentação como um direito fundamental, trazendo já nos seus artigos 2o e 3o definições amplas, mas precisas, sobre o significado do direito à alimentação e da segurança alimentar e nutricional. Mais do que um ponto de chegada é um ponto solo inicial para as conquistas e discussões democráticas vindouras.Universidade de São Paulo.
