Resumo: The proposal of this research is to present the role of communication consultancies in the application of the Access to Information Act (LAI) in the Government of Distrito Federal (GDF). The article analyzes the concept of Public Communication’s that argues about the importance of the dialogue between state and society. Thirty-one public agencies were interviewed. This sample was formed by more than 50% interviewed agencies. More than half of the advisers say that the communication area participates directly of the law application process. Almost 60% of them answered that the strategies for application of LAI make up the organization’s communication policies

O artigo analisa o conceito de Comunicação Pública, que considera fundamental o diálogo entre Estado e sociedade. Foram aplicados questionários para assessores de comunicação de 31 órgãos do GDF. A amostra, que ambicionou ser censitária, foi diminuída em virtude do momento político vivenciado pelo GDF, que ocasionou dificuldades na aplica- ção dos questionários. A amostra foi conformada por mais de 50% do universo estudado. Mais da metade dos assessores de comunicação afirmam que a área de comunicação participa diretamente do processo de aplicação da lei.
