Rap from the countryside – political dialogs between countryside and urban youth groups

This article presents some results of a thesis developed between 2010 and 2015, abouth political formation of the Landless Rural Workers (MST). The focus of this article is the level of struggle for hegemony of / in art and culture, from the narratives of young peasants who are part of the rap group Veneno [Poison] H2. We use the dialectical method and applied qualitative techniques, semi-structured interviews with young rappers of the MST, and analysis of lyrics from the album Terra Militante [Militant Earth]. Research shows that the narratives of young peasants, as a result of interactions between the countryside and the city, indicate narrowing political ties among the youth of these spaces through cultural identification, which can strengthen and deepen alliances and political dialogues.
