The bioethics and the physiotherapy in the Intensive Therapy Units

Resumo: The physiotherapists whose work at the intensive therapy units daily takes care of patients in a very serious clinical conditions, some of the cases, inaddition, are in a life risk circumstances. This research had the objective to draw an image of the physiotherapy professionals whose work at intensivetherapy units and identify these professionals opinion about some topic inbioethics as: terminal patients, patient's autonomy, euthanasia and disthanasia. Therefore was applied a questionnaire to the physiotherapy professionals whose work at the Hospitals in Alagoas. Among the results found it is possible to show up that: All interviewed answered that theyexplains the procedures to be applied to their patients. About active euthanasia, when asked to the physiotherapy professionals opinion, 6% answered that they approve this procedure and 96% are against. About passive euthanasia, 74% of the group interviewed answered that they are against and 26% approve this procedure. Some conclusions obtained refer to the terminals patients and the right to receive information about the treatment and the not acceptance of the passive or active euthanasia for the greater number of the physiotherapists interviewed.

Este trabalho teve como objetivotraçar um perfil dos profissionais da fisioterapia que trabalham em UTI eidentificar a opinião desses profissionais sobre alguns temas da Bioética como: pacientes terminais, autonomia do paciente, eutanásia e distanasia. Para tanto, foi aplicado um questionário aos fisioterapeutas que trabalham nos Hospitais do Estado de Alagoas. Entre os resultados encontrados destacou-se que: todos os entrevistados afirmaram que explicam os procedimentos que serão executados aos pacientes. No que tange a eutanásia ativa, quando se perguntou a opinião dos fisioterapeutas, 6% disseram ser favoráveis a essa prática e 96% contra. Em relação à eutanásia passiva, 74% dos entrevistados responderam ser contra a esse procedimento e 26% a favor. Algumas conclusões obtidas referem-se aos pacientes terminais e o direito de receber informações sobre o tratamento; e a não aceitação da eutanásia, ativa ou passiva pela maioria absoluta dos fisioterapeutas entrevistados.Universidade de São Paulo.
