Quality of life analysis, body image perception and sleepiness aspects of tennis coaches from Campo Grande

Resumo: | OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to evaluate QOL, daytime sleepiness and body image perception of professionals working with the tennis sport in the city of Campo Grande/MS. METHODS: The study sample consisted of 20 tennis coaches (40.6 ± 8.7 years) with experience in professional practice in the modality (17.7 ± 8.8 years), in the city of Campo Grande - MS. As instruments were used: a survey record of sociodemographic variables; the WHOQOL-Bref; the Epworth Sleepiness Scale; and the Silhouettes Scale Body Image. Data collection took place in person, in the coaches workplace. Through Microsoft Excel 2010 software were carried out frequency calculations, central tendency and dispersion measures.RESULTS: The results show that the coaches have a satisfactory QOL (72.26). The Social Relations domain showed the highest value (76.67), while the Environment domain (67.03) was the only one to show values below and observed the overall QOL. The results of the Epworth indicated that 45,00% of coaches showed sleep disorders associated with excessive daytime sleepiness. Only three coaches reported being satisfied with their body image.CONCLUSIONS: The coaches from Campo Grande showed satisfactory levels of QOL. Among the professionals who showed changes in sleep, it was observed that the amount of hours of sleep per night was lower than recommended in the literature for the age group. Finally, it was found that most of the coaches dissatisfied with body image overweight and / or obesity. |

Finally, it was found that most of the coaches dissatisfied with body image overweight and / or obesity.OBJETIVO: Avaliar a QV, a sonolência diurna e a percepção da imagem corporal dos profissionais que atuam com a modalidade tênis, na cidade de Campo Grande/MS.MÉTODOS: A amostra do estudo foi composta por 20 treinadores de tênis (40,6±8,7 anos), com experiência no exercício profissional com a modalidade (17,7±8,8 anos), da cidade de Campo Grande/MS. Como instrumentos foram utilizados: uma ficha para levantamento das variáveis sociodemográficas, o WHOQOL-Bref, a Escala de Sonolência de Epworth e a Escala de Silhuetas da Imagem Corporal. A coleta de dados ocorreu presencialmente, no local de trabalho dos treinadores. Por meio do software Microsoft Excel 2010 foram realizados cálculos de frequência, medidas de tendência central e dispersão.RESULTADOS: Os treinadores apresentam uma QV satisfatória (72,26). O domínio Relações sociais foi o que apresentou maior valor (76,67), enquanto o domínio Meio ambiente (67,03) foi o único a apresentar valores abaixo dos observados à QV geral. Os resultados da Epworth indicaram que 45,00% dos treinadores apresentaram alterações no sono, associadas à sonolência diurna excessiva. Apenas três treinadores relataram estar satisfeitos com a imagem corporal.CONCLUSÕES: Os treinadores campo-grandenses apresentaram índices satisfatórios de QV. Entre os profissionais que apresentaram alterações no sono, observou-se que a quantidade de horas dormidas por noite foi inferior às recomendadas pela literatura para a faixa etária.
