Resumo: | OBJECTIVES: To compare happiness levels among nurses and staff of the administrative sector of General teaching Hospital.METHODS: Using the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire composed of 29 items and also using the Life Quality Questionnaire SF 36 through statistical analysis based on cross-sectional and observational quantitative studies that correlated factors influencing happiness. Through the application of demographic questionnaire the two groups, administrative and nursing, were compared to the degree of happiness within SF36 fields. The authors correlated the different aspects of happiness within the two groups.RESULTS: The statistical results showed no significant difference between the two groups. The average of happiness was 4.52 and 4.7o for nursing and administrative respectively of a scale ranging from 1 to 6, with 1 being poor and good 6.CONCLUSIONS: There was no difference of the degree of happiness between the nursing group in relation to the administrative group. The domains of the SF 36 that most correlated with happiness were mental health for both groups and social aspects to the nursing group. The factors that most influenced happiness were: satisfaction with standard of living, social life, to have close friends or childhood friends, believe in God or in something beyond this life and the factor that was less influenced was the practice of social actions. |
