Resumo: OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the impact of occupational kinesiotherapy on the quality of life of nursing assistants in a general surgical center of a university hospital of a tertiary hospital in the city of São Paulo.METHODS: Prospective, double-blind clinical trial in a control and intervention group performed with nursing assistants in a surgical center. The study protocol was divided into three stages, where the quality of life was evaluated by the Medical Outcomes Study 36-Item Short-Form Health Survey (SF-36), taught in the classroom, and participants underwent labor kinesiotherapy for a period of 15 minutes three times a week for two months in the workplace. Statistical analysis was performed with descriptive analysis and among the variables of interest.RESULTS: 90 participants were excluded from the study and 44 were excluded because they did not meet the inclusion criteria. A total of 46 patients were randomized and 23 were assigned to each group (control and intervention). Participants in the intervention group demonstrated a significant increase after the proposed work-related kinesiotherapy protocol, in functional capacity scores (p = 0.001), physical aspects (p = 0.001) and pain (p = 0.001) assessed by the SF-36 questionnaire.CONCLUSIONS: Occupational kinesiotherapy was effective in improving quality of life, with values statistically significant in pain scores, functional capacity and physical aspects, evaluated using the SF-36 quality of life questionnaire.
