Influence of intensive neuromotor therapy on motor habilities and quality of life of children with cerebral palsy

Resumo: OBJECTIVE: To analyze the influence of intensive neuromotor therapy in motor function and quality of life of children with cerebral palsy.METHODS: As instruments methods were used the Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS), a Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM-88) and the Pediatric Quality of Life Interventory 3.1 - Cerebral Palsy Module Modified (PedsQL 3.1) applied to the responsible for the children. Through these instruments, eight children aged 4 to 10 years with a diagnosis of cerebral palsy were evaluated by comparing pre and post-evaluation mean values.RESULTS: In the results of GMFM there was asignicative difference of p = 0.0005 and PedsQI scale was obtained p = 0.051.CONCLUSIONS: Intensive neuromotor therapy has a positive influence on overall motor skills. The quality of life showed a tendency to improve, being able to have its result influenced by the small number of the sample.

Por meio desses instrumentos, oito crianças de 4 a 10 anos com diagnóstico de encefalopatia crônica não progressiva da infância foram avaliadas por comparação dos valores médios pré e pós avaliação.RESULTADOS: Pela escala GMFM observou-se diferença estatística positiva entre o pré e o pós de p=0,0005 e na escala PedsQl obteve-se p=0,051.CONCLUSÕES: A terapia neuromotora intensiva influencia de maneira positiva na motricidade global.
