TEXTBOOK: REFLEXIONS INVOLVING AUTHORSHIP, CONTENT AND THEORY

Resumo: | This study deals with the stereotypical image that, historically speaking, has beenassociated with the textbook author. It looks at how this image has come to change, andidentifies the different circumstances that have led to teachers assuming responsibility for thewriting of school textbooks. Furthermore, using the textbook concept proposed by Décio Gatti,it clearly shows textbook writing to be a multifaceted literature, in terms of perspectives ofanalysis, positions that will be related to François Dubet’s thinking. It addresses recent forms inthe writing of school textbooks that embrace new editorial technology and considers the rightsand responsibilities of textbook authors with regard to the use of photographic images, in light of1998’s Law number 9.610. It places emphasis on how important it is that these passivecontributions be considered, according to Boris Kossoy, as historical documents derived frominterdisciplinary sources and, as such, involving various fields of knowledge. It focuses on themilitary movement as an authoritarian force which guided Brazil’s destiny from 1964 to 1985 andwhich influenced the direction education took and the position of the authors. In this context,decree law number 477 of 1969 acted as a kind of restriction of freedom and as thought control,which was reflected in textbooks. In how it affected textbook content, related to racial and ethnic matters in the form of the “race whitening thesis” with its implicit idea of white superiority, andthe Brazilian “racial democracy” thesis, in reference to the historical moment to come. |

Evidencia,ainda, a partir do conceito de livro didático proposto por Décio Gatti, uma literaturamultifacetada em termos de perspectivas de análise, situações que serão relacionadas com opensamento de François Dubet. Aborda as recentes formas de elaboração dos manuais escolaresbastante ligadas com as novas tecnologias editoriais e discorre, à luz da Lei n.9.610 de 1998, sobreos direitos e responsabilidades dos autores de manuais escolares quanto ao uso de imagensfotográficas. Salienta a importância dessas contribuições passíveis, segundo Boris Kossoy, deserem consideradas como documentos históricos oriundos de fontes interdisciplinares e assimenvolvendo vários campos do conhecimento. Enfoca o movimento militar de caráter autoritárioque geriu os destinos do Brasil de 1964 a 1985, influindo nos rumos da educação e na posiçãodos autores. Nesse contexto, o Decreto-lei de n. 477 de 1969 atua no sentido de cerceamento daliberdade e de controle do pensamento, repercutindo nos livros didáticos.
