Resumo: The present paper aims to analyse certain aspects from the female behavior using machado de assis essay “da queda que as mulheres têm para homens tolos” as an object of analysis. The goal is to analyze how the myth of romantic love created an wrong idea about the nature of relationships between men and women and how this idea completely differs from reality. For that purpose we will use the works of authors such as esther vilar, robert e. Johnson and francesco alberoni, among others.

Discutiremos como o mito do amor romântico gera um discurso que não condiz com a realidade acerca de certas atitudes femininas, entrando em conflito com a cultura romântica da sociedade ocidental. Para tanto usaremos de textos de autores como esther vilar, robert e. Johnson, francesco alberoni, entre outros para discutir o tema.
