Analysis of science popularization texts in the field of informatics

Resumo: There are two perspectives concerning science popularization (SP): a canonic one and a contemporary one. The objective of the present work is to investigate how SP is conceived within the field of Informatics in the journalistic media. For purposes of analysis, 14 SP texts published in Journal Zero Hora were collected from January to March 2009. The textual analysis is based on a quali-quantitative methodology and involves the identification and the interpretation of recursive elements used in the texts, based on the schematic representation the the rhetorical organization of SP texts, proposed by Motta-Roth and Lovato (2009) and on the compositional structure of news note by Figueiredo (2003). The analysis results indicate that Journal Zero Hora popularizes scientific findings through three genres: note, news and news report. Besides these results, in SP notes, three rhetorical moves were identified: identification of the SP note, summary of the SP note and complementary information.

O objetivo do presente trabalho é investigar como a PC é constituída na área de Informática, na mídia jornalística. Para fins de análise, 14 textos de PC divulgados no Jornal Zero Hora foram coletados de janeiro a março de 2009. A análise textual é de base quali-quantitativa e envolve a identificação e interpretação dos elementos recursivos empregados nos textos, com base na representação esquemática da organização retórica de textos de PC, proposta por Motta-Roth e Lovato (2009), e na estrutura composicional da nota noticiosa, proposta por Figueiredo (2003). Os resultados da análise indicam que o jornal Zero Hora populariza descobertas científicas por meio de três gêneros: nota, notícia e reportagem.
