Resumo: This article aims to present an analysis of the tale Verde Lagarto Amarelo (1969), of Lygia Fagundes Telles, according to the theoretical perspectives proposed by the French theorist Roland Barthes, in particular, consider under which the uniqueness of each literary text. Thus, texts can be classified into two types: the legible text that present the reader with a fixed meaning on the other hand, the scriptible texts, presenting a "galaxy of signifiers" and therefore can have access to them through various inputs and without claiming to cover the entire work. The story was chosen because it is a modern text, ie, provides the reader with ample freedom to produce meanings. For the analysis, were applied to five literary codes, namely the proairetic, the hermeneutic, the cultural, the semic and the symbolic.

For the analysis, were applied to five literary codes, namely the proairetic, the hermeneutic, the cultural, the semic and the symbolic.   O presente artigo tem por objetivo apresentar uma análise do conto Verde lagarto amarelo (1969), de Lygia Fagundes Telles, de acordo com as perspectivas teóricas propostas pelo teórico francês Roland Barthes, especificamente, segundo as quais consideram a unicidade de cada texto literário. Desse modo, os textos podem ser classificados em dois tipos: os textos legíveis que apresentam ao leitor um significado fixo; por outro lado, os textos escrevíveis, que apresentam uma “galáxia de significantes” e por essa razão pode-se ter acesso a eles através de várias entradas e sem ter a pretensão de abranger a obra toda. O conto foi escolhido por tratar-se de um texto moderno, ou seja, oferece ao leitor ampla liberdade para produzir significados.
