BUILDING A HYBRID BRASILLITY: THE TROPICÁLIA FROM HELIO OITICICA

Resumo: Considering the idea of contemporary cultures as hybrid cultures, this article seeks to understand how the meaning of a sense of hybrid brasilidade is built, and uses hélio oiticica's work tropicália from 1967 as a visual and aesthetic exampleof it. Drawing on popular culture as the result of the double movement of resisting and containg, and considering both the changes suffered by the most tradicional aspects of culture and the transformations that they make over the global world ans its technical and cientific environments, we have not discussed the legitimity of the referred work of art as popular art. Instead, it is seen here as part of popular brazilian culture, a manifestation able to reveals symbolical, political and cultural issues that exist in it as well as ilustrate the hybrid brasilidade in construction

Instead, it is seen here as part of popular brazilian culture, a manifestation able to reveals symbolical, political and cultural issues that exist in it as well as ilustrate the hybrid brasilidade in construction A partir da leitura das manifestações culturais contemporâneas enquanto culturas híbridas, o artigo pretende compreender como se conforma a formação de um sentido de brasilidade igualmente híbrido, e toma a instalação do artista hélio oiticica de 1967, tropicália, como um exemplo estético-visual disso.  Interpretando a cultura popular como resultante  do movimento duplo de conter e resistir, e considerando as mudanças sofridas pelos aspectos mais tradicionais da cultura, bem como as transformações operadas por eles frente às modificações do meio técnico-científico do mundo globalizante, não procurou-se fazer distinções acerca da legitimidade da referida instalação enquanto pertencente ou não à cultura popular.
