Resumo: The present article has as main study objects the short story written by Maria Lúcia Medeiros - born in Pará, Brazil – called “Chuvas e Trovoadas” and the film with the same title, made by Flávia Alfinito. Both stories have as main focus a girl who seems to not fit in a society with rigid habits. Her attitudes appear to be rebel but they have meanings deeper than they seem to be. This work intends to interpret some of the main character’s actions, analyze the meaning of the reading in the society the girls lives in and also intends to study, in a comparative analyses, the short story’s  passage to the big screen. To do so, it will be used writers such as Remak, Pellegrini and Carrière.

To do so, it will be used writers such as Remak, Pellegrini and Carrière.  O presente artigo tem como objetos de estudo o conto da escritora paraense Maria Lúcia Medeiros, intitulado “Chuvas e trovoadas”, e o curta-metragem de mesmo título, feito por flávia alfinito. Ambas as narrativas trazem, como eixo principal, uma menina que parece não se enquadrar em uma sociedade de padrões rígidos. Suas atitudes aparentemente rebeldes possuem, na verdade, significados mais profundos do que realmente aparentam. Este artigo pretende interpretar algumas dessas ações da protagonista, desvelar o significado da leitura na sociedade em que a menina está inserida, além de estudar, em uma análise comparativa, a releitura do conto para o cinema.
