Resumo: | The aim of the current study is to investigate the practice of reformulation within the institutional speech therapy consultation context by analyzing the characteristics, the turn-to-turn organizations, the interactional tasks and the discursive constructions arising (achieved through) from this practice. The study is theoretically and methodologically supported by the Conversation Analysis framework, and the data were obtained through the video recording of a speech therapy consultation, which was attended by therapists and an aphasic patient. The data were subsequently transcribed according to conventions suggested by conversation analysts. By examining the speech-in-interaction data, we observed the following types of reformulations: (i) the topic organizer type, which mainly helped to keep intersubjectivity; (ii) the narrative coconstructor type, which enabled the construction of a narrative that met the reference and assessment criteria; and (iii) the abstract type, which eliciated the short narrative and operated at the narrative end/completion. In addition, the analyses corroborated the thesis by Ostermann and Silva (2009) who advocate that, through this practice, it is possible to promote health care humanization. Keywords: narrative, reformulation, aphasia. |

Keywords: narrative, reformulation, aphasia.
