In this article we try to reflect on the evidence of enlivenment by the feminine jouissance of three public school English teachers. The study is based on the field of applied linguistics (AL) to English language teaching (ELT) in conjunction with the Franco-Brazilian theory of discourse informed by the psychoanalytic concept of subjectivity. The concept of jouissance in psychoanalysis is in order to understand the key aspect in the constitution of the subject and in his/her relations with the object. We listened to those teachers who do not flinch when confronted by the contingencies of their practice. Our interpretations can contribute to problematize trainers’ and teachers’ career paths, ways of enjoyment, desires, and involvement in their profession. It was possible to understand that the relationship with the object voice, in the way these teachers were charmed by the music sung in English during their childhood and adolescence, is decisive in enlivening their bonds with their profession and their students.Keywords: ELT, psychoanalysis, jouissance.
