This article is the result of a literature review and documentary research on employment and income policies created in Brazil in 2020/2021 to minimize the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a descriptive study, with data obtained from official agencies, such as the IBGE, Ministry of Economy, World Bank (WB), International Monetary Fund (IMF), among others, nongovernmental websites, and journal articles. The results obtained suggest that the measures created during the Bolsonaro administration were insufficient to minimize the effects crises caused by the pandemic, aggravating informality and unemployment, aggravating the living and working conditions of the Brazilian working class, and maintaining the historical residual presence of the State in addressing social issues.
