Resumo: | Based on the discussion that I did in my master’s research in two schools in the district of Guamá, the so-called “baixada” the city of Belém do Pará - equivalent to what is known in other periphery regions of the country – in this paper I try to organize and to problematize discourses about color from emic categories and nominative descriptions developed by students from both schools. The discourses are about color remissive the way the teachers and build two schools in mestizaje racial ideologies then endorsed as national identity trait. Highlights are dichotomous distinctions of gender that intersect the categories and nominative constructed in the context observed. |

Highlights are dichotomous distinctions of gender that intersect the categories and nominative constructed in the context observed.Baseado na discussão que realizei em minha pesquisa de mestrado em duas escolas do bairro do Guamá, da chamada “baixada” do município de Belém do Pará – equivalente ao que se denomina de periferia em outras regiões do país –, neste artigo tento organizar e problematizar discursos sobre cor a partir de categorias êmicas e nominativos descritivos elaborados pelos estudantes de duas escolas. Os discursos sobre cor são remissivos ao modo como o corpo docente e as duas instituições escolares constroem ideologias raciais referendadas na mestiçagem como traço identitário nacional.
