Resumo: The process of vinification generates a vast amount of waste, such residues are rich in bioactive compounds, which in turn have beneficial properties for health, preventing cancer and the elimination of free radicals, cardiovascular diseases, inflammation and disorders related to aging. Grape marc is the main organic waste of the wine industry and represent an inexpensive source for the extraction of antioxidant flavonoids and can be used as a raw material in the production of food supplements and cosmetic application providing an advantageous economic importance. The aim of this study was determined antioxidante and photoprotective activity of grape marc extracts. The selected grape marcs were from Bordeaux, Isabel, and Merlot. The polyphenols and flavonoids composition were analyzed. The in vitro sun protection factor (SPF) and antioxidant efficacy was an evaluation by DPPH, ABTS, lipoperoxidation inhibition, reducing power and total antioxidant capacity method. The results showed high potential antioxidants with IC50 lower 250 µg/ml for assays of DPPH and TBARS. The better SPF was observed with Bordeaux (SPF 12.152). These results highlight the potential for adding value to grape marc waste, as the basis for the sustainable production of innovative, safe, anti-aging products.
