This research has as general objective to understand the safety of offshore operations, analyzing and demonstrating the activity of air transportation of passengers in the oil industry, presenting characteristics and information regarding offshore air transportation operations, knowledge and technical specifications regarding the structure developed to carry out the offshore aviation, identifying maritime and oil units, aircraft used in transportation, airports and heliports used in offshore operations. The procedure for data collection is characterized as a bibliographic and documentary review carried out exclusively by the internet based on research and studies carried out by companies participating in aviation and offshore exploration in general. The approach, therefore, will be qualitative, since the study of offshore aviation, based on the characteristics of air transport in the Campos basin that develops there, will demonstrate the importance of the safety of air operations in maritime units. At the end of the research, it is concluded that the offshore activity keeps growing, but it develops in potentially flawed conditions due to the lack of regulations and research aimed at the activity, the lack of specific knowledge together with the lack of information and the scarcity studies directed to the area, which would enable a greater capacity for decision making by aviators, in addition to greater knowledge of the offshore operations carried out.
