Resumo: The objective of this study was to analyze how working conditions in the air sector can cause flight fatigue and influence the performance and safety of the activities performed by these professionals. Regarding the methodological procedures, the descriptive research was adopted, in the form of a case study, with field survey with a quantitative approach, using a questionnaire as a tool for data collection, applied to 30 people, pilots. and stewards of scheduled public passenger air transport. Among the main results obtained we can mention that: (i) the crew, although very concerned, mentioned being happy and enthusiastic about working in aviation; (ii) the lack of encouragement from the manager has been an aspect that causes moderate discomfort at work; (iii) there is no interference of gender, age and position in the respondents' answers regarding the analysis factors for quality of life assessment; (iv) 14 out of 30 respondents reported sleeping too little; (v) short rest time between working hours is one of the most common causes of fatigue among pilots and flight attendants; and (vi) the most frequent symptoms of fatigue were drowsiness, desire to yawn, and back pain, and their occurrence was unrelated to gender, age, or function occupied by crew members. In this context, it is evident that crew fatigue has a major impact on the safety of air operations and is definitely a concern and an issue that should be carefully considered. Since it may cause in the aeronaut: (i) lack of motivation, (ii) poor performance on tasks, (iii) forgetfulness, (iv) poor judgment, and (v) decreased decision-making skills, including hasty decision making or lack of overall decision making. Finally, to prevent fatigue from affecting flight safety conditions, it is suggested that crew members follow the recommendations of Brazilian Civil Aviation Regulation No. 117, Amendment No. 00 of March 19, 2019 and that airlines adopt systems fatigue risk management to ensure that pilots and flight attendants are at appropriate alert levels.
