Resumo: This is a study that aimed to analyze the effects of the judgment of the Extraordinary Appel nº. 898.060/SC by the Federal Supreme Court within the scope of Successions. Therefore, after introductory delimitation of the theme and justification of the work, it was performed an analysis of the brazilian family legal system, the species of family arrangmentes existing in the current society, the guiding principles of the theme, the bonds that determine filiation and the possibility of coexistence of biological and socio-affective filiations, known as multiparenting. After that, it was examined the rules of succession law existing in the legal system, focusing on legitimate succession and its peculiarities. Next, it was then taken and approach of the jurisprudencial and doctrinal positioning about the institute of multiparenting, with focus on the judgement of the Extraordinary Appel nº. 898.060/SC by the Brazilian Supreme Court, with the analysis of the concrete case and the fundaments of the ministers who participated in the trial, analyzing, finally, the succession effects arising from the coexistence of biological and socio-affective filiations, as there are no rules yet in the legal system that previse the existence of the multiparenting institute and its application in Succession Law.

Para tanto, após a introdução do tema e justificativa do trabalho, realizou-se uma análise da evolução histórica da família no ordenamento jurídico brasileiro, as espécies de arranjos familiares existentes na sociedade atual, os princípios norteadores do tema, os vínculos que determinam as relações de filiação e a possibilidade de coexistência das filiações biológica e socioafetiva, conhecida como multiparentalidade. Na sequência, examinou-se as regras do Direito das Sucessões existentes na ordem jurídica, dando enfoque à sucessão legítima e suas peculiaridades.
