Resumo: This study aims to verify the environmental management of the International Airport of Florianópolis-SC (Hercílio Luz) and the International Airport of Porto Alegre-RS (Salgado Filho), based on the concession contracts made by the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) on the 4th stage of the airport concessions program, carried out in 2017. Although the concession contracts signed were limited to repeating the legal provisions, there was an improvement in the environmental management of these airports with the transfer of management to the concessionaires, even though the Florianópolis airport operator presents a strategic management publicly more committed to environmental sustainability. In view of that, ANAC can and should demand in future concessions requirements identical to those it established under the “Sustainable Aerodromes” project, making its performance as a granting authority an instrument that also helps it as a regulatory body in the objective of reducing emissions of internationally recommended by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Embora os contratos de concessão celebrados tenham se limitado a repetir as previsões legais, houve um aprimoramento da gestão ambiental desses aeroportos com a transferência de administração às concessionárias, ainda que o operador aeroportuário de Florianópolis apresente uma gestão estratégica publicamente mais comprometida com a sustentabilidade ambiental.
