This monograph deals with globalization, and how this phenomenon contributes to the expansion of culture and information around the world. One type of business that has grown dramatically with globalization has been the entertainment business, specifically the theme parks. In this context, Walt Disney World is a thematic complex recognized all over the world, and served as inspiration for the creation of many theme parks around the world, as was the case of Beto Carrero World. The general objective of this research is to present the economic and social changes that occurred in the cities of Orlando, Florida, and Penha, in Santa Catarina, after the inaugurations of the theme parks surveyed. From there, the economic conjunctures of the United States and Brazil were presented during the creation of the parks, and the evolution of the socioeconomic indicators of the cities of Orlando and Penha. For the structuring of the work were used as far as its applicability to applied research, it uses descriptive objectives, and of qualitative nature. The study design has the character of bibliographical and documentary research. The work in question is not meant to be a comparative analysis, given the respective proportions of each park, but rather a description of the economic and social evolution of the cities after the parks' implementation. Finally, it is concluded that the cities studied, Orlando and Penha, underwent several changes in their socioeconomic aspects since the inauguration of the parks, completely altering their economic profile.
