The purpose of this research is to compare the number of Military Police Inquiries (MPIs) filed for personal injury and abuse of authority against military police officers stationed in the 5th Military Police Battalion (MPB) over the one year period prior to and one year after the implementation of custody in the district of Tubarão - SC. The method used was the quantitative approach, comparing the numbers obtained from the MPIs introduced in the period mentioned. The data collection procedure used was documentary. The results showed that 35 MPIs were instituted for bodily injury and abuse of authority between 10/15/2017 and 10/15/2018 and 41 MPIs for the same crimes between 10/15/2018 and 10/15/2019, revealing a 17% increase in this variable. 300 custody hearings were held in the district of Tubarão for the arrest in the cities covered by the 5th MPB. 717 arrests were made in the act from October 2017 to October 2018 and 741 between October 2018 and October 2019, showing an increase of 3.34%. It was concluded that the implementation of custody hearings may have contributed to the increase of MPIs in the region, while the number of arrests in the act did not follow the same growth.
