Resumo: The objective of this research was to study about the danger of hot air balloons for flight safety and to understand the contributing aspects to the high rates of hot air balloon sightings in Brazil and the risk to civil aviation associated with the practice of this activity. It is characterized as an exploratory research whose purpose is to explore a known and persistent problem so that it can provide accurate information about it. The data were collected through the bibliographic procedure through books, articles, reports, regulations and laws and this research was classified as qualitative, since it will be based on real situations in order to collect data to study the problem. At the end of this research, it is concluded that the lack of education and social projects contribute to the high rates of sightings, since they do not form a mentality capable of curbing the practice of activity and demonstrate the risks and dangers associated with this practice.

Caracteriza-se como uma pesquisa exploratória cujo objetivo é explorar um problema conhecido e persistente, a fim de que possa fornecer informações precisas acerca do mesmo. Os dados foram coletados através do procedimento bibliográfico por meio de livros, artigos, reportagens, regulamentos e leis e esta pesquisa foi classificada como qualitativa, uma vez que a mesma será baseada em situações reais a fins de levantar dados para estudar o problema.
