This research aims to analyze and know the possibilities and feasibility in the search for the expansion of regional air service in the interior of the state of Minas Gerais. This project intends to build knowledge on this theme in order to provide the organization of strategies aimed at possible solutions and paths for an active and consolidated regional aviation. Through an exploratory approach of qualitative and quantitative research, this research contemplated city halls of municipalities in the interior of the state of Minas Gerais, belonging to the micro region of São João DelRei and adjacent municipalities that are located in the mesoregion called Campo das Vertentes. The research was carried out in stages, by preliminary telephone contact, followed by the sending of digital documents (thematic booklet, consent form and research questionnaire), and finally analysis and treatment of the data obtained. The research on the theme of regional aviation allowed us to understand that there is a latent demand that opens the way to consider the relevance of the offer of this service in the analyzed micro-region. In another context, the research also signaled that there was a lack of information among many of the subjects on this subject and the basic understanding that air service in the micro-region is not relevant to the analysis and appraisals, since it refers to a transport segment which is not part of the regional reality of the municipalities in their daily dynamics. The survey also highlighted the need to leverage inter-municipal dialogues in the aforementioned micro-region on this topic, in order to mobilize a robust and more promising action, judgment and decision in the community regarding the viability of the regional air service.
