ABSTRACT The present work presents an analysis about civil responsibility in the cases of affective abandonment, which is characterized by the affective abandonment of the elderly parents by the children. For that, we have as a research problem: is there a possibility of civil responsibility of the child when it is characterized the reverse affective abandonment? In the search for the answer to the problem formulated here, the general objectives were: to analyze if there is civil responsibility of the children towards the parents in cases of affective abandonment inverse; and specific: to describe the changes occurred in the families, leading to the appreciation of affection; conceptualizing the reverse affective abandonment, highlighting its consequences; studying about the reality and vulnerabilities to which the elderly are exposed; to verify the possibility of applying civil liability to family relationships in cases of reverse affective abandonment. The methodological tools used in the elaboration of this were descriptive, qualitative and bibliographic research. The results showed that there is yes the possibility of civil responsibility of the children for the affective abandonment of the elderly parents, because as demonstrated, this abandonment can bring numerous problems to health and especially in the psychological field to the elderly
