The present study deals with multiparentality: the possibility of joint recognition of socio-affective and biological paternity and its effects. As a general objective the analysis of the institute of multiparentality, emphasizing the possibility of joint recognition of socio-affective and biological paternity and its effects. And, for specific purposes, a brief description of the historical evolution of family law, about the concept of socio-affective parenting, parenthood, and multiparentality; And analyze the possibility of recognizing multiparentality. As for the methodological procedures, the deductive method was used, starting from general arguments to reach the specific conclusions. Regarding the approach, the qualitative research was used, with the purpose of knowing the researched topic and solving the problematic in question. The procedure used for the data collection was the bibliographical research, being used for the elaboration of the present work, doctrines, legislation and jurisprudence. Finally, it is demonstrated in the present study whether or not there is the possibility of joint recognition of socio-affective and biological paternity and what its effects would be.
