Analysis of Social Librarianship Aspects in the Librarianship Course at The Federal University of Ceará

It aims to analyze whether the themes related to Social Librarianship are discussed in the teaching plans of the Librarianship course at the Federal University of Ceará. For this, it is based on an exploratory and descriptive research, with a qualitative approach based on a documental research in the plans of the disciplines offered by the respective course. As a result, it is described which subjects explicitly and implicitly address aspects of Social Librarianship, based on diversity, ethics, social responsibility and critical performance of the librarian. Altogether, 14 subjects of the 34 existing in the curriculum present characteristics of Social Librarianship. It is concluded that the explicit and implicit aspects of Social Librarianship appear in practically all Curricular Units of the course, with the exception of the Information Technology unit. There is a need for improvement in this aspect, in addition to strengthening some other areas, with ethnic-racial, gender, inclusion, social vulnerability content, among others that can be aggregated in the disciplines and enable training in Librarianship focused on social aspects.
