Resumo: Introduction: Burnout syndrome is characterized by physical exhaustion mainly related to work, reaching professional areas that have direct contact with other people. It is defined by a triad that includes emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and reduced personal fulfillment. Aim: It was to describe the incidence of the Syndrome in teachers of the Pos-Graduate Program in Letters at the State University of Mato Grosso (UNEMAT/Sinop). Method: It was a quantitative research. We used a descriptive cross-sectional, and the Maslach Burnout Inventory - General Survey questionnaire as a basis for data collection, which evaluates and quantifies individual responses to compose the triad. Results: It was possible to identify an average of moderate Burnout in the researched professors, with emotional exhaustion being the predominant factor. Conclusios: It was verified the need to obtain and disseminate more information about the symptoms of burnout so that it can be prevented or even treated, in a way that brings benefits both to the individual and to the institution.

Se define por una tríada que incluye agotamiento emocional, despersonalización y reducción de la realización personal. Objetivo: El objetivo principal del estudio fue describir la incidencia del Síndrome en profesores del Programa de Posgrado en Letras de la Universidad Estadual de Mato Grosso (UNEMAT/Sinop). Método: La metodología utilizada fue descriptiva transversal, de carácter cuantitativo, utilizando como base para la recolección de datos el cuestionario Maslach Burnout Inventory - General Survey, que evalúa y cuantifica las respuestas individuales para componer la tríada. Resultado: Fue posible identificar un promedio de Burnout moderado en los profesores investigados, siendo el factor predominante el agotamiento emocional. Conclusión: Existió la necesidad de obtener y difundir más información sobre los síntomas del burnout para que pueda ser prevenido o incluso tratado, de manera que traiga beneficios tanto para el individuo como para la institución.Introdução: A síndrome de Burnout caracteriza-se por esgotamento físico relacionado principalmente ao trabalho, atingindo áreas profissionais que possuem contato direto com outras pessoas. Ela é definida por uma tríade que inclui exaustão emocional, despersonalização e redução da realização pessoal. Objetivo: O estudo teve como principal objetivo descrever a incidência da Síndrome em professores do Programa de Pós-graduação em Letras da Universidade do Estado de Mato Grosso (UNEMAT/Sinop). Método: A metodologia utilizada foi descritiva transversal, de natureza quantitativa, utilizando como base para a coleta de dados o questionário Maslach Burnout Inventory - General Survey, que avalia e quantifica respostas individuais para compor a tríade. Resultado: Foi possível identificar uma média de Burnout moderado nos docentes pesquisados, sendo o fator predominante a exaustão emocional.
