Fact-checking as a possibility of media accountability on political discourse? A content analysis of the initiatives Aos Fatos, Lupa e Truco

Resumo: The paper investigates the supervisory experience of political discourse promoted by factchecking projects Aos Fatos, Lupa and Truco. The study focuses on the limits and potentials of this new media genre in triggering the accountability of public agents and supplementing the offer of arguments for citizens engaged in political debate. The analysis showed that labeling was not followed exactly and the predominance of national politics. While considering that scrutinizing misconceptions has the potential to create further political news and facts, acting as yet another external control, the pursuit of precision in politics and the ongoing confrontationof politicians can have detrimental effects such as amplifying processes of depoliticization.

A análise mostrou que a ação de etiquetar não foi seguida à risca e a predominância de temas nacionais.
