Resumo: The Hague Agreement is an international system that debureaucratizes and reduces the costs of industrial design protection in the member countries of the agreement. To analyze the advisability of Brazil joining this agreement, statistical, technical, and economic evidence was used to position Brazil in this landscape. The evidence allows us to conclude that it would be more convenient to wait until Brazil reaches a greater degree of maturity in the development and use of industrial design protection, as a necessary step to the competitiveness required in the international arena.

Para analizar la conveniencia de la adhesión de Brasil a este acuerdo, se utilizó evidencia estadística, técnica y económica con el fin de posicionar a Brasil en este escenario. La evidencia permite concluir que la opción más conveniente sería esperar que Brasil alcance un mayor nivel de madurez en el desarrollo y uso de la protección de diseños industriales, como etapa necesaria para la competitividad requerida en el ámbito internacional.O Acordo de Haia é um sistema internacional que desburocratiza e reduz os custos de proteção de desenho industrial nos países membros do acordo. Para analisar a conveniência da adesão do Brasil a este acordo, foram utilizadas evidências estatísticas, técnicas e econômicas, a fim de posicionar o Brasil neste cenário.
