Resumo: This article analises the posts on blogs and virtual communities of people who had experiences of suffering and shame owing to their curly hair type. In a attempt to represent the empty pain originared from the post modernity and its discontents, the testemonies turn onto the recognition and the fight against the mantainence of the straight hair beauty standard. This article bends into the bakhtinian and foucauldian methodology concerning the speeches, as wel as psychoanalitic theories to understand them on virtual means of comunication. Facing the possibility of sharing their suffering, the individuals bet on the ideais of authenticity to reforce their identities as well as their placein society.
