WARBURG AND BENJAMIN: the incompleteness and the montage as forms of knowledge

Resumo: | Aby Warburg (1866-1929) and Walter Benjamin (1892-1940), Jews and intellectuals born in Germany in the second half of the 19th century, share the idea of suspending the movement of history's linear course and have a critical and aesthetic view of the techniques. Tied to relatively distinct universes, they never met, despite Walter Benjamin's attempts. Among the many correspondences between their thoughts, we will focus on two unfinished projects - Aby Warburg's Atlas Mnemosyne and Walter Benjamin's The Arcades Project - in order to reflect on their legacy to aesthetic research methods, especially with regard to images. |

Vinculado a universos relativamente distintos, nunca se dieron a conocer, a pesar de los intentos de Walter Benjamín. Entre las correspondencias entre sus pensamientos, nos detendremos, en este trabajo, en dos proyectos inacabados -el Atlas Mnemosyne, de Aby Warburg, y El Libro de los Pasajes, de Walter Benjamin - con el propósito de reflexionar sobre el legado de esos autores para los métodos de investigación estética , especialmente con respecto a las imágenes.Aby Warburg (1866-1929) e Walter Benjamin (1892-1940), judeus e intelectuais nascidos na Alemanha da segunda metade do século XIX, partilham da ideia de suspensão do movimento do curso linear da História e têm uma visão crítica e estética das técnicas. Ligados a universos relativamente distintos, nunca chegaram a se encontrar, a despeito das tentativas de Benjamin.
