Challenges and mistress in academic education: narratives of a physical education teacher with physical disability

Resumo: This work aims to know and reflect on the mishaps and challenges of a physical education teacher, with physical disabilities, in the training trajectory. She intends to lay bare facts that were perhaps doomed to mildew on some forgotten shelves in her life story. The investigation presented here is linked to the Center for Studies and Research on Practices in Literacy and Inclusion in Education (NEPPAI/CNPQ-UFOP). The methodology is based on narrative research. The analysis of the information is based on a generating question. From the analysis of the information, the following categories emerged: the “normal” body and the body with physical disabilities; accessibility and (in)exclusion; ableism. Through the research collaborating teacher's narrative, it was observed that she faced accessibility problems to places that should be designed for everyone. It was possible to identify perceptions crossed by prejudice, mainly with regard to ableism. It was noticed that the body of people with disabilities is seen as “abnormal” in the eyes of the teacher. The experience narrated from this research revealed important experiences present in the academic formation of a person with physical disabilities. This fact can contribute to thinking about a more just and inclusive society.

Su propósito es poner al descubierto hechos que quizás estaban condenados a enmohecerse en algunos estantes olvidados en la historia de su vida. La investigación que aquí se presenta está vinculada al Centro de Estudios e Investigaciones sobre Prácticas de Alfabetización e Inclusión en la Educación (NEPPAI/CNPQ-UFOP). La metodología se basa en la investigación narrativa. El análisis de la información se basa en una pregunta generadora. Del análisis de la información surgieron las siguientes categorías: el cuerpo “normal” y el cuerpo con discapacidad física; accesibilidad e (in)exclusión; capacitismo A través de la narrativa de la docente colaboradora de la investigación, se observó que enfrentaba problemas de accesibilidad a lugares que deberían estar diseñados para todos. Fue posible identificar percepciones atravesadas por prejuicios, principalmente en lo que se refiere al capacitismo. Se percibió que el cuerpo de las personas con discapacidad es visto como “anormal” a los ojos de la docente. La experiencia narrada desde esta investigación reveló vivencias importantes presentes en la formación académica de una persona con discapacidad física. Este hecho puede contribuir a pensar en una sociedad más justa e inclusiva.Este trabalho objetiva analisar e refletir sobre os percalços e desafios de uma professora de Educação Física com deficiência física na trajetória de formação. Procura-se trazer à luz aspectos que poderiam permanecer obscurecidos no esquecimento de sua história de vida. A investigação aqui apresentada está vinculada ao Núcleo de Estudos e Pesquisas sobre Práticas na Alfabetização e Inclusão em Educação (NEPPAI), certificado pelo Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq) da Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto (UFOP). A metodologia de pesquisa adotada é a autobiográfica, utilizando-se da Entrevista Narrativa (EN) como ferramenta principal. A interpretação dos dados se orienta a partir de uma questão geradora, da qual emergiram as seguintes categorias: o corpo “normal” e o corpo com deficiência física; acessibilidade e (in)exclusão; capacitismo. Através da narrativa da professora participante, constatou-se que ela enfrentou barreiras de acessibilidade em espaços que deveriam ser acessíveis a todos. A análise revelou também percepções permeadas por preconceito, notadamente relacionadas ao capacitismo, e uma tendência a enxergar o corpo com deficiência como “anormal”.
