Summary: | Based on documentary research from a historiographic perspective, this article analyzes school newspapers produced by elementary-school students in the North region of Italy between 1974 and 1980. Through references to the History of Reading and dialoguing with studies on the History of Education, we analyze the development and internationalization of the educational practice proposed by Célestin and Élise Freinet in the 1920s. In this process, we found the use of newspapers as substitutes for manuals and books in school activities, their role in the integration between school and families, and the production of a student centrality and as critical subjects of the inequalities and social injustices. |

Por medio de los referenciales de la Historia de la Lectura y en diálogo con los estudios en Historia de la Educación, se analiza el desarrollo y la internacionalización de esta práctica educativa, propuesta por Célestin y Élise Freinet desde la década de 1920; en este proceso, se verifica el uso de los periódicos como sustitutos de los manuales y libros en las actividades escolares, su rol en la integración entre la escuela y las familias, y la producción de la centralidad de los estudiantes como productores de conocimiento y como sujetos críticos de las desigualdades e injusticias sociales.Cet article, basé sur une recherche documentaire de nature historiographique, analyse les journaux scolaires produits par les élèves des écoles élémentaires du nord de l'Italie de 1974 à 1980. À travers les références de l'Histoire de la lecture et en dialogue avec des études en Histoire de l'éducation, nous analysons le développement et l’internationalisation de cette pratique pédagogique, proposée par Célestin et Élise Freinet depuis les années 1920; dans ce processus, on vérifie l'utilisation des journaux comme substituts des manuels et des livres dans les activités scolaires, leur rôle dans l'intégration entre l'école et les familles, et la production de la centralité des élèves en tant que producteurs de connaissances et sujets critiques des inégalités et des injustices sociales.Este artigo, baseado em pesquisa documental de cunho historiográfico, analisa jornais escolares produzidos por estudantes de escolas elementares da região norte da Itália no período de 1974 a 1980.
