Student Perceptions about Remote Teaching During the Covid-19 Pandemic

Resumo: The COVID-19 pandemic impacted the world due to the lack of knowledge about the disease and how countries could seek ways to protect the population in the face of its rapid spread. Brazil, in turn, had to adopt measures of social isolation, which affected the academic community, including the Federal University of Santa Maria, which had a rapid transition from face-to-face to remote teaching. Faced with this new reality, this study evaluated the students' perception of remote teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic. An online survey was carried out in which responses were analyzed using descriptive statistics, exploratory factor analysis and multiple regression analysis. The results obtained indicate that the involvement of teachers and their working methods are very important for students in relation to the conduction of the mechanisms used in remote teaching. This study brought relevant information regarding the evaluation of remote teaching, implemented in an emergency context in Higher Education Institutions.   Keywords: Emergency remote teaching. COVID-19. A pandemia da COVID-19 impactou o mundo diante do desconhecimento sobre a doença e de como os países poderiam buscar maneiras de proteger a população perante sua rápida propagação. O Brasil, por sua vez, teve que adotar medidas de isolamento social, o que afetou a comunidade acadêmica, inclusive a Universidade Federal de Santa Maria que teve uma rápida transição do ensino presencial para o remoto. Diante dessa nova realidade, este estudo avaliou a percepção discente sobre o ensino remoto durante a pandemia da COVID-19. Realizou-se uma pesquisa survey online em que as respostas foram analisadas através de estatística descritiva, análise fatorial exploratória e análise de regressão múltipla. Os resultados obtidos indicam que o envolvimento dos docentes e seus métodos de trabalho são muito importantes para os discentes em relação à condução dos mecanismos utilizados no ensino remoto. Esse estudo trouxe informações relevantes quanto a avaliação do ensino remoto, implementado em um contexto emergencial nas Instituições de Ensino Superior.   Palavras-chave: Ensino remoto emergencial.
