Accuracy and Reliability of ChatGPT as perceived by Distance Learning Students

Resumo: This study aimed to identify the understating of undergraduate students regarding the use of the ChatGPT tool, considering the accuracy of the answers, the reliability, its potential for learning and professional applications. To achieve this, an activity was proposed for undergraduate students enrolled at the Study Methods and Techniques discipline via distance learning, offered by a private higher education institution located in Baixada Fluminense, in the city of Rio de Janeiro. This subject is offered in all undergraduate courses throughout the third period. The activity developed consisted of using the tool to respond to theoretical concepts in their area of ​​expertise and then to answer a questionnaire with objective and discursive questions. A total of 47 responses were obtained, which were investigated and interpreted in light of qualitative content analysis. As a result, it was demonstrated that the interviewees perceived the usefulness of the AI tool, but they identified ethical issues related to its usage, as well as possible challenges related to the development of learning. E-learning.Este estudo teve como objetivo identificar a percepção de estudantes de graduação sobre o uso da ferramenta ChatGPT, considerando a exatidão das respostas, a confiabilidade, seu potencial de aprendizagem e aplicações profissionais. Para isso, foi proposta uma atividade para estudantes de graduação que cursaram a disciplina Métodos e Técnicas de Estudo na modalidade à distância, vinculados a uma instituição de ensino superior particular situada na Baixada Fluminense, na cidade do Rio de Janeiro. A oferta da disciplina é feita em todos os cursos de graduação ao longo do terceiro período. A atividade desenvolvida consistia em utilizar a ferramenta para responder a conceitos teóricos em sua área de atuação e, em seguida, responder a um questionário com perguntas discursivas sobre a ferramenta. Obteve-se um total de 47 respostas, que foram investigadas à luz da análise qualitativa do conteúdo. Como resultado, observou-se que os respondentes percebem a utilidade da ferramenta, mas identificam questões de natureza ética relacionadas ao seu uso, assim como possíveis desafios no que tange ao desenvolvimento da aprendizagem.   Palavras-chave: ChatGPT.
