ChatGPT as a support tool in the teaching of Mathematics

Resumo: This article discusses the use of the ChatGPT application in Mathematics Education. The conversational model of artificial intelligence answers users' questions autonomously, based on internet data and with the ability to solve mathematical questions, prepare lesson plans, write dissertation texts, create poetry and songs, for example. With this, we intend to investigate the benefits and possible harms of this resource in the teaching and learning processes of Mathematics. To this end, based on the study and research trajectory of the Study Group in Mathematics Education (GEEM), we approach the language in which ChatGPT is inserted from the available bibliographic reference and present some of the possibilities that this innovative resource offers and that can, evidently be explored in Mathematics classes and by students and teachers.

El modelo conversacional de inteligencia artificial responde a las preguntas de los usuarios de forma autónoma, a partir de datos de internet y con la capacidad de resolver cuestiones matemáticas, preparar planes de lecciones, escribir textos de tesis, crear poesía y canciones, por ejemplo. Con esto, pretendemos investigar los beneficios y posibles perjuicios de este recurso en los procesos de enseñanza y aprendizaje de las Matemáticas. Para ello, a partir de la trayectoria de estudio e investigación del Grupo de Estudio en Educación Matemática (GEEM), abordamos el lenguaje en el que se inserta ChatGPT a partir de la referencia bibliográfica disponible y presentamos algunas de las posibilidades que ofrece este recurso innovador y que puede, evidentemente ser explorado en las clases de Matemáticas y por estudiantes y profesores.Esse artigo aborda a utilização do aplicativo ChatGPT na Educação Matemática. O modelo conversacional de inteligência artificial (IA) que responde às perguntas dos usuários de forma autônoma, a partir de dados da internet e com capacidade para resolver questões matemáticas, elaborar planos de aulas, escrever textos dissertativos, criar poesias e canções, por exemplo. Com isso, procuramos responder, quais as possibilidades e eventuais malefícios deste recurso nos processos de ensino e aprendizagem da Matemática no Ensino Médio.
